Salvamont Romania- Yesterday, the National Salvamont Dispatch put the Baia de Fier tourist resort of local interest in the center of attention of mountain rescuers from the whole country. Concretely, for almost 12 hours several teams of mountain rescuers from counties such as Gorj, Caraș Severin, Hunedoara, Sibiu, Prahova, Brașov, Argeș, Vâlcea and from the bases in Petroșani, Olănești and Zărnești trained for the first time nationally in within the framework of the first training course for rescuers in night rescue from high walls. State-of-the-art technology-drones, binoculars, IR scopes and thermal imaging were specially brought to Baia de Fier, the place that provided the perfect setting for simulating accidents on high rock walls, 21 of the total 40 Via Ferrata routes in Romania finding itself here.
An exhibition was organized with presentation and practical demonstrations with specific equipment, emergency vehicles and emergency ambulance in mountainous terrain, ATVs, CUVs.
There was also the presentation and testing of intervention drones for air transport and fixed-point launch of mountain rescue equipment and medical equipment; practical search exercises with the help of drones and image analysis with the SARUAV program.
The rescue teams carried out several practical search actions – rescue, recovery and transport of injured people from high altitude from climbing routes and via ferrata both during the day and at night, on both slopes of the Galbenului gorges.
Hundreds of tourists who came to visit the Muierilor Cave were impressed both by the exhibition of equipment and the rescues seen, which were done with a high degree of professionalism.
Not many people know that Salvamont Romania is the best developed structure in the country in terms of drone rescues. There are crews in 18 counties and Romania has the first National Center for the Analysis of Drone Images with the help of Artificial Intelligence. A unique European project awarded last year with the grand trophy at the International Congress of Rescuers with Drones, a trophy obtained after a year of work between Salvamont Romania and technology partner Vodafone, as the head of this institution told us, Sabin Cornoiu.
